KITTATINNY LIMECREST SOCIAL RIDES

Our social rides so far have been a success.  The October social rides will be from Kittatinny Limecrest in Sussex County, and all paces should be covered. There will be treats at the end of the rides.  Since we are approaching Halloween, I can’t think of a better place to cycle than at a lake where Ghosts reside. If you don’t want to cycle, there are hiking trails in Kittatinny State Park, and you might be able to kayak. Manny

KITTATINNY LIMECREST SOCIAL RIDE

The October social ride will be Oct 19 from Kittatinny Limecrest, a beautiful area to ride in the Fall.  There will be treats at the end of the ride.  I do need ride leaders for the various paces but if you have an alternate tour for a pace you want to lead, please let me know.   To be clear, if you don’t want to travel to Kittatinny you are not restricted from putting in a ride closer to home.  Thanks, Manny

Change in Ride Leader Awards

Greetings, friends.

The club’s Board has voted to revise ride leader awards effective ride year beginning October 1, 2025 as follows:

Lead 15 or more rides in a year, choose a ride leader jersey or $50 gift card.  Previously, the minimum number of rides was 12.

Thanks for your attention.

Best regards,

Michael

Update on Class 3 Ebike Laws

Greetings, friends.

Our wonderful New Jersey elected officials recently passed a law requiring that class 3 ebikes be registered and that owners must carry liability insurance for them.  After spending a lot of time doing a lot of research, it appears that these bikes cannot be registered because the required documentation cannot be obtained by owners.  If you want details, shoot me an email or call me.

Some members contacted their insurance carriers and were told that neither auto insurance, homeowner’s insurance, or umbrella policies provide liability coverage for their ebikes.  If you own a class 3 ebike, it is recommended that you contact your insurance carrier to determine if any existing policy provides liability coverage for your ebike,  At this point, it appears that there are several insurers who will write these policies and one option is to conduct a google search for that.

Best regards,

Michael
