{"id":229588,"date":"2025-05-20T16:34:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T20:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mafw.org\/mafw-ride-coordinator\/"},"modified":"2025-05-27T18:58:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T22:58:59","slug":"mafw-ride-coordinator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mafw.org\/staging\/mafw-ride-coordinator\/","title":{"rendered":"MAFW Ride Coordinator"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greetings, friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many kudos to Manny Coehlo for being the club&#8217;s Ride Coordinator for many years.&nbsp; It&#8217;s hard to express my gratitude for Manny&#8217;s outstanding management of this position and he has done an exemplary job.&nbsp; To me, Manny represents the epitome of a ride leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That being said, the club is looking for someone to take Manny&#8217;s place as Ride Coordinator.&nbsp; The tasks involved in this position include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set example for ride leaders by leading rides and leading rides following MAFW rules.\u00a0 Be an ambassador for the club when leading a ride.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support Board decisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage members to be ride leaders by occasionally sending out emails soliciting ride leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help members become ride leaders once they decide to become a ride leader. Start by telling them how to post a ride and to read the ride leader handbook.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When requested, put in new start points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For fall and spring picnics, milestone party, kickoff event and other special rides put in a schedule of rides from the library or create tours with the cue sheet committee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occasionally deal with requests from ride leaders for changes in their ride with respect to pace, time and date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support cue sheet committee to create new tours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Answer questions from members about MAFW.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote non-MAFW cycle events by putting them on the MAFW calendar and sending out emails making members aware of these special rides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make ride leaders aware of road closures when notified by members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as a member of the MAFW Board and attend Board meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At end of year determine which ride leaders have earned ride leader award.\u00a0 Buy the gift cards and distribute them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occasionally remind ride leaders to close out their rides. Need to verify all rides are closed out at end of calendar year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Send out ride coordinator updates on a variety of topics to members or ride leaders. Topics can include when to switch from Colonial Park Lot C to Howe Athletic Field.\u00a0 See \u201cRead the Latest Announcements\u201d for examples.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the Revolutionary Ramble.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manny will provide all of the necessary information and training needed by the new volunteer(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Board is willing to consider having several members volunteer for this position and rotate among themselves on a periodic basis.&nbsp; Interested parties can contact me at president@mafw.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks for your attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Best,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michael<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings, friends.
