It’s not Trump vs Harris but its close. Voting will close on midnight on Wednesday, November 6th and the results will be announced at the Annual Meeting on November 7th. You can click the link below or when you are signing up for a ride tomorrow click the link on the top of our web page. Voting is now open for the 2024 election of the 2025-2026 BoD! MAFW Annual Meeting Our annual meeting is being held on Thursday November 7th at 6:30 PM at the Morristown library. Besides the sharing of the election results we will have a couple of great speakers with a Health and Wellness Theme and the re-introduction of the ride planning committee. Paul Coviello PT, DPT, OCS of Summit Physical Therapy will be discussing “How to reduce your injury risk on and off the bike”. Paul is a key sponsor of the Ramble and multiple members use his teams’ services for PT and other pain management services. He is an active bicyclist and understands the injuries we incur enjoying the sport of cycling. If you have a chance prior to the meeting check out his website and services. https://www.summitpt-nj.com/ Tim Sharpe one of our members with a specialty is sports nutrition. He will be discussing how to use nutrition to maximize your ride. Maybe he can provide me some pointers in how to lose weight. Tim Sharpe is an adjunct faculty member in the post-graduate Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine program at the University of Western States and has a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine and an MS in human nutrition and functional medicine. He currently serves as the head nutritionist at the Institute for Human Kinetics. Jay Marowitz will follow up these sessions with a discussion on the planned restart of the Ride Planning Committee Please join us for this session. I have received a lot of comments lately on the need for our bike club to modernize a little. As to that matter, our existing bylaws do not specifically authorize voting using the Internet, and they also do not specifically authorize meetings using Zoom and similar computer applications. The Board believes that the bylaws should be amended to provide these authorizations, and we have prepared proposed bylaws amendments that would accomplish this. We will be presenting these amendments at the upcoming picnic on the 22nd and will be holding a vote on adopting them. If they are adopted, they will become effective immediately. A small change to bring is in alignment with corporate standards in a post covid world. To see the proposed changes please utilize the attached link. MAFW-2022-bylaws-with-proposed-changes-V.-2.0 The two events next week are as follows: Semi-Annual Trek Inspection Ride – 9/21/24 The previously scheduled date was cancelled due to excessive heat. Many of you remember that last year we launched our first ever Trek Inspection Rides starting from Trek Stirling’s location. These events were very well received with all participants receiving Trek’s free safety inspection on their bikes. Trek will be offering a $50.00 discount on their level 2 service and $100 discount for Level 3 service, if needed. There will be refreshments, bagels, coffee and juices before and after the rides. Trek will also have Trek Fest specials inside their store for members to shop after the ride. We are staggering the start times of the rides, so that Trek can properly inspect and discuss their findings with our riders. Parking will be in the Trek lot, next door at the Day Care Center, and along Main Street in Stirling. Bathrooms are available in the store. Trek Service will be on duty at 8:00 am, so please arrive about 45 minutes to an hour before your ride starts. Rides are now available on our website. Annual Fall Picnic – Schooley Mountain Park – 9/22/24 The MAFW Fall Picnic will be on Sunday September 22nd, at Schooley Mountain Park in Long Valley. For those that have not ridden out of the park it’s a beautiful location and the rides are fantastic as well. The picnic is free (and you can bring a guest). We are looking to finalize the headcount for the fall picnic on Sunday September 22nd. Weather looks to be perfect as of this evening (low 70’s and partially cloudy). The picnic is free (and you can bring a guest or potential new member), but please sign up using the form at the top of our web page so we know how many people to expect. People whose last name starts with: A-FPlease bring an Appetizer/Salad.G-OPlease bring a Main DishP-ZPlease bring a Dessert. There is a full ride schedule for the day of the picnic, with rides at all paces. There should be a ride for anyone who isRead more

Upcoming Events and a couple of Safety AnnouncementsHopefully everyone is enjoying the summer and looking forward to cooler weather and the fall foliage. We have a series of events coming up that I wanted to share with you. We hope you will join us for one, two or all the events we have planned over the next couple of months. August 31st – Freewheelers post-ride paddleboat races, swimming, and picnic! Join us on Saturday August 31, 2024, at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris Park for a day of riding, getting wet (or not), and fun: ). Rides will start leaving the park at 9AM and upon returning we will have picnic tables by the beach with empanadas, cold flavored seltzers and dishes by members. In addition to bike rides, paddleboat races, swimming and food, Len Friedman will be leading a 4-mile hike in Lewis Morris Park starting from Sunrise Lake. Be sure to sign up on the Ride Schedule if you want to hike. There is no charge for a member and a guest. If you are not joining a ride, you should be there by 11:30AM. People whose last name starts with: A-FPlease bring a Dessert.G-O Please bring a Salad.P – ZPlease bring a Main Dish End of Summer Celebration Ride – 9/14/24. The Denville/Parsippany MAFW members have completed two successful Denville – Bike, Pizza and Beer rides earlier this year and we thought we may try this on a grander scale. The rides will start and end at the Diamond Spring Brewery in downtown Denville (opens at 12 noon on Saturdays). We will have the rides posted shortly but, in the end, we would like the ride leaders to utilize their $50 Celebration ride event to fund the Pizza. We will start off with 3-4 rides and we will expand if necessary. The Celebration ride funding was available for the first time in 2024, and we did not see the benefit utilized enough for our liking. The costs of drinks (beer, water etc.) will be each participants responsibility. If this goes well, we may also consider an Angry Erics Brewery ride from Kittatinny state park or a Burnt Mills Cider ride from Bedminster in the Fall. Rides should be up on the website shortly. Semi-Annual Trek Inspection Ride – 9/21/24 The previously scheduled date was cancelled due to excessive heat. Many of you remember that last year we launched our first ever Trek Inspection Rides starting from Trek Stirling’s location. Now for a couple of safety announcements. Morris County Dangerous Road Condition Reporting – At our spring kick-off there was a discussion about whether or not there is a website to report dangerous road conditions in Morris County. The good news is there is now a website to report such issues. Rebecca Feldman recently filed a dangerous condition report, and I encourage you all to do the same when an issue is identified. Rebecca’s email read as follows: “There is a dangerous condition on CR 646, Tempe Wick Road, both directions, in the vicinity of Primrose Brook. Repaving, or smooth edge-to-edge repair is needed – from the driveway of the Great Swamp Watershed Association to SR 202. Years of potholes and bumpy patching have made this section of winding road so rough that people on bicycles cannot stay out of the way of motorists. Drivers are speeding and blindly passing into oncoming traffic, while riders struggle to navigate a safe path between the patches. This busy rough section of Tempe Wick is now unsafe for everybody. When will Morris County make this section of Tempe Wick, a crucial east-west connector, safe? Rebecca P. Feldman Morristown”. Let’s keep our roads safe for all riders out there and feel free to use Rebecca’s email as inspiration. The link is as follows: https://www.morriscountynj.gov/Departments/Engineering-Transportation/Report-a-Pothole-or-Road-Maintenance-Issue. Warning Aggressive Drivers – We have become aware of several reports from MAFW and BTCNJ club members having a few close-calls with cars driven by aggressive drivers. In fact, one MAFW member encountered two aggressive drivers in one week. While we can’t prevent people from driving stupidly, we can take several actions to help make ourselves safer when riding on the road. Although not required, here are some things to consider: Always wear a proper fitting bicycle helmet, to help protect your noggin if you go down (this is required by club rules) Wear a bright colored jersey and bright socks Use bright LED lights to make you visible to distracted motorists Be predictable when riding Never overlap wheels with the cyclist in front of you Use a radar detector (such as the Garmin Varia). Personally, I think this has been the greatest new tool available to bike riders over the last several years. Consider using a video camera (such as Cycliq) – – although this won’t keep you safe, it will provide visual documentation in the event of a crash or incident (and it’s great at capturing license plate numbers). However, if you are using a video camera – please inform everyone on the ride during the safety talk that you are doing so. Some individuals are not happy being potentially recorded witRead more

Juneteenth and upcoming eventsGood evening – Hopefully everyone is enjoying the heat. Juneteenth – Hopefully everyone had an opportunity to celebrate Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day. This recent holiday commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. Although this date commemorates enslaved people learning of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation, this only applied to former Confederate states. There remained legally enslaved people in states that never seceded from the Union. These people did not gain their freedom until the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution on December 6, 1865. If you have an opportunity to visit some of the local burial sites in the area it is worth it to learn about the history of the area as well as respect this new Federal holiday even more. The two main sites that I am aware of are as follows: Lamington Black Cemetery – 19th century burial ground on the National Register of Historic Places. There are 97 identified graves here: 36 with names and 61 unknowns, including former slaves and free blacks who were members of the Lamington Presbyterian Church. Remains of 5 Civil War veterans who fought heroically for the Union are here. As you walk through the grounds, note the Bible passages on some of the markers and enjoy the feeling of peace. Several of our gravel rides pass this sacred location and on occasion we do stop by to pay respect. African Burying Ground 1801: On June 22, 1801, three African Men – one free negro and two slaves – purchased on tenth of an acre of land from Aaron Melick for the sum of three dollars to establish a burying ground for the “Black people in this Neighborhood.” This is the earliest known purchase of land by slaves for burials in New Jersey. The free Negro’s name was Robert Aaron, a local beekeeper, and the two slaves were Aaron Melick’s Robert and Aaron Van Doren’s Yaff. The burying ground is one square chain (66′ x 66′) bounded on the west by the Hillside Avenue. In his 1889 book, “The Story of an Old Farm,” Andrew D. Melick, Jr. refers to the site as “God’s Acre.” For more information, please refer to https://www.mrlocalhistory.org/honoring-black-history-month-in-the-somerset-hills/ Now some upcoming events to bring to your attention: Somerset Patriots Baseball game on 6/21 30+ people have signed up for this great event. A quick reminder that all individuals Ballpark BBQ Area with picnic tables and all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet with soft drinks (cash bar). The Somerset Patriots who are a NY Yankees AA minor league team will be playing the Erie SeaWolves @7:05 PM. The club subsidized the tickets, and we look forward to seeing you all in non-biking clothing. Hopefully we all recognize each other. LOL Address: TD Bank Ballpark 1 Patriots Park, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 Semi-Annual Trek Inspection Ride – 7/14/24 Many of you remember that last year we launched our first ever Trek Inspection Rides starting from Trek Stirling’s location. These events were very well received with all participants receiving Trek’s free safety inspection on their bikes. Jeff Sperling and team have been working the phones and Trek has partnered once again with MAFW to offer our members another free inspection in conjunction with our rides emanating from the Trek Stirling parking lot on Sunday, July 14th, 2023. We will have rides posted shortly. Members will receive a no obligation written inspection scorecard assessment of their bike. Keep an eye out for additional details and the sign-ups on our website. We are also in conversations about a gravel inspection date as well. Stay tuned for additional details. Fall Picnic – 9/22/24 – Schooley Mountain Park. The MAFW Fall Picnic will be on Sunday September 22nd, at Schooley Mountain Park in Long Valley. For those that have not ridden out of the park it’s a beautiful location and the rides are fantastic as well. The picnic is free (and you can bring a guest). Please keep an eye out for the sign up so we know how many people to expect. Revolutionary Ramble – Last but not least, the Board wanted to thank all those that provided sponsorship money, donated personal time or participated in this great event and climbed until they cried uncle- LOL. The weather was perfect, and the rides went off without a hitch. All the profits are donated to the local EMS Squads, NICA and other bike related organizations. In addition, ride participants donated a significant number of bikes to the Boys and Girls Club for refurbishment. This event demonstrates what a great club we have and is a key component of our “brand.” To pull this off takes a lot of planning – more than I ever imagined and it would not be possible without our members. Please get involved and help us continue to grow this event to being one of the best and “biggest” events in NJ. See you out on the road Joseph ReRead more

In the meantime, I wanted to bring a couple of upcoming events (including ours) to your attention. The 15th annual Revolutionary Ramble is scheduled for June 8th and will be run from Raritan Valley Community College this year instead of Drew University due to scheduling conflicts. The Revolutionary Ramble includes scenic rides through rolling terrain in the seat of the American Revolution, you can challenge yourself to one of five routes from 25 to 100 miles with the peace of mind provided by fully supported bike event — well stocked rest stops, and a fabulous post ride lunch. We will be utilizing food trucks this year and you will all love it. Several members of the club have stepped up and are playing key roles in the ride this year and its highly appreciated. If you are not going to ride – please volunteer as we can use your help. In addition, we are looking for sponsors. If you are interested in volunteering or have some sponsorship ideas or contacts, please let us know and I will get you to the proper individual to take the next step. From one of our club partners in NY comes the annual TD The 5 Boro Bike Tour on May 7th. The organization reached out and asked the bike club to promote the tour as the NY Bike Club participates in our ride as well. The tour provides a unique experience by allowing you to ride 40 miles car-free in one of the greatest cities in the world. The tour, which is one of the most popular rides in America gets about 3oK participants annually and takes you on a unique journey through the 5 Boro’s as you take in some of the Citi’s most famous sites and breathtaking views. In addition, any rider who registers for Bike NY will get a chance to win a free ride in Twin Lights. This event was very well received with over 50 participants receiving Trek’s free safety inspection on their bikes. As six months have passed since that event, Trek has partnered once again with MAFW to offer our members another free inspection in conjunction with our rides emanating from the Trek Stirling parking lot on Saturday, December 9th, 2023. We will have 4 rides posted shortly, D, D plus, C and C plus. Members will receive a no obligation written inspection scorecard assessment of their bike. As we are finalizing the details of next Saturday’s bike inspection event, we wanted to share with you some substantial savings that Trek is offering exclusively only to MAFW members that participate in next week’s event. While members are free to pursue service from one of their choosing, Trek has made an amazing offer that we wanted to share with you. Per their Service Manager, Steve Maluk: For any club member present on December 9th receiving a bike inspection, we are happy to offer a $100 coupon redeemable towards our Level 2 Service Package. To redeem the coupon, the bike must be checked in for service at Trek Stirling within 14 days of the event day. The Level 2 service package includes cleaning the bike and wheels, deep cleaning the drivetrain in our parts washer, truing and tensioning the wheels, adjusting all bearing systems on the bike, adjusting brakes and shifting, and torquing all fasteners on the bike to spec. To put this in perspective and to reiterate Trek’s and MAFW commitment to safety, the normal price on Level 2 Service is $174.99 plus parts. The $100.00 coupon is an exclusive opportunity for MAFW inspection ride participants. In addition, Trek will discount parts by 10% and will offer us even larger discounts on select bar tape, tires, saddles, stems and the liRead more

Summer is almost over, and the Fall is right around the corner. All, I hope you had an excellent summer on and off the bike. The end of summer is near and the best season for bike riding is right around the corner. Hopefully everyone had an opportunity to get away with and without your bike and are recharged for the fall season. In case you are wondering where I have been – I took a fall on a gravel ride and took the handlebars to my face and split my upper lip. Like a good boxer, I got up finished the ride then got sent to the locker room for stitches. I looked like the “Joker” for a couple of weeks but now all is well, and I am back on the bike and yes, the bike is fine. Now a couple of serious items. I have received a couple of complaints from solo bike riders and drivers. The solo bike riders state that we are not providing clear warnings when we are coming up behind them. Let’s make sure to announce that we are coming up on the left when we are passing of club members or solo riders to avoid startling them. It’s the proper and courteous thing to do. As for drivers, a couple of individuals felt obliged to complain about the club riding two three deep in the swamp. I always assume it must be some other club, but let’s make sure we are riding single file when there is traffic. Last thing we want is an overzealous driver trying to teach us a lesson which results in a terrible accident like we saw in Arizona last year. Some of you may have heard that the club had a ride leader/ride participant issue in the second quarter. Although we are a bike club, we are family and family have quarrels from time to time. The Board takes safety seriously and we appointed a separate independent panel to evaluate the situation and provide a recommendation to the Board. In the end, we provided a formal warning to all individuals involved with the threat of a future suspension or being kicked out of the club if we continue to see such egregious behavior. Let’s make sure that any quarrel is not in the public domain as we have to protect the club brand. In these situations, the parties should have a one-on-one conversation a day or two after the event that caused the issue. I generally find a cooling off period is best for both parties otherwise emotions get in the way. If the one-on-one conversation does not resolve the matter than bring it to my attention and I or my designee will work with the parties to resolve. As in all bad things good things come from them. We are working on a Ride Leader/Ride Participant Code of Conduct that we will share with you all later this year. We have not determined how we role this out at this time but stay tuned. Fun Stuff Labor Day is around the corner. Weather permitting, I am planning a Washington Crossing Ride for this glorious holiday. I will put in a place holder a C ride, but we can break it up into different classifications if we get enough people. If you are around and not traveling, please join us for this wonderful ride. If we get enough people, we can have a pizza party or make Linda bake desserts for us all. Only kidding on Linda but Pizza or something else is possible. Fall Picnic. We are currently looking for a location for the Fall picnic. Once the location is locked down, I will send a note. Good or Bad Idea – you decide. I was down at the shore this weekend and while I was riding, I was thinking we should have a beach day in September once all the Bennies are gone (oh wait we are the Bennies). For those who do not know what a “Bennie” means – it’s an affectionate term by the locals for individuals that come down and overwhelm their towns to benefit off their beaches. September is the best time of year at the shore – don’t tell anyone. You can get into restaurants and there is no traffic. The beach is empty, and the water is at its warmest for the season. My bike loop is about 20 miles and is relatively flat except for wind that can make it feel like you are riding uphill if it is strong enough. Let me know your thoughts – individuals can do one, two or three loops to get in a metric century if they feel inclined to do so. I had some head wind today and average 15.7 without much effort. We can park outside the park and enter for free on our bikes or park in the park where there are bathrooms, showers etc. If there is enough interest, we will look into it and set somethingRead more

In addition, the club is the main source of Ramble volunteers. We just ran a successful Revolutionary Ramble XIV which generated proceeds that benefit local First Aid Squads, NICA, the Boys & Girls Club Bike Exchange, Girls in Gear, The New Jersey Bike and Walk Coalition, and other bike-related charities. In short, the Foundation is a vehicle for the club, via its volunteers, to give back to the communities and the state through which we ride. Our current board is composed of bike club members, non-members, and a bike store owner. Looking ahead to 2024, we have vacant board positions which we need to fill. The various board jobs involve providing infrastructure support for the Ramble, sponsor soliciting, proposing innovative changes to the Ramble and identifying recipients for donations.

June Update and a June 24th Special EventWe are halfway through month of June and the amount of rides the leaders have been offering have something for everyone. The rides have been diverse in milage, speeds and hills. One trend that I keep seeing is that a B/C ride combo. The B riders leave 15 mins earlier and execute a drop ride. Strong C riders can participate and drop off and get picked up by the C group leaving shortly thereafter if they decide to drop. It provides a great opportunity to test your skills without getting dropped and riding alone. Let’s keep up the great work and continue to keep rolling. Due to the success of our first venture with Trek Stirling I am excited to announce another event. As you all may be aware, Gravel is one of the fastest growing segments in the biking industry and our club is centered right in the middle of some of the best gravel roads in the state. However, before I bore you with the details a couple of items: Father’s Day: Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. Hopefully your first wish was let me go for a ride:) There are several rides on the calendar if you are available. Your family will understand. Revolutionary Ramble: I wanted to take the time to thank all the volunteers that helped or participated in the Revolutionary Ramble last week. The weather was awesome, and we had a great turn out. Approximately 800 riders participated in the event with about 50% of them riding the 70/100 miler. Doug McMahon the Super Project Manager, George Ebel the creator of the routes, and Bendon Poh (Cycle Craft owner) added tons of insight and social media savvy and many others were critical to the success of the event, and we all thank you for your efforts. Let’s not forget to thank our Sponsors such as Cycle Craft, Trek Stirling, REI and others that provided support throughout the day. New Members: Over the last several weeks we have picked up several new members, I rode with an individual that was participating on his third ride and continues to get better week to week. If you have a new member on your ride introduce, them to the ride members, encourage them, provide guidance and help them grow to love the wonderful sport of biking. Remember they are the future of the club. Upcoming Events: Roy’s Annual Penn Dutch Ride June 23rd through June 26th. Roy may still have a couple of open spots if you are available for this great trip. Lake George Getaway: Friday September 8th through Monday September 11th BTCNJ Ramapo Rally on August 20th. Lots of BTCNJ members participated in the Ramble and did a great job advertising for our event in thier monthly letter. If you are available where your Jersey proudly and provide support for one of the other great bike clubs. Last but not least the SPECIAL Event SPECIAL EVENT – Trek Stirling MAFW Gravel Ride 6/24/23 If you were ever curious about what gravel riding is all about, have we got an opportunity for you!! In conjunction with our friends at Trek Stirling, we are listing two gravel rides on June 24, 2023, starting from Bedminster One. Ride 1342 will be a 16-mile introductory ride for new gravel riders (limit 20 riders) Ride 1343 will be a 24-mile gravel ride for intermediate riders (limit 20 riders) Gravel riding requires a different skill set than road riding, the pace is slower, rides are shorter, but you get an excellent workout, and you get to travel on beautiful unpaved country roads. What makes this Saturday’s gravel rides special is that Trek Stirling will be bringing up to eleven gravel bikes for members to ride. Checkpoint gravel bikes will be slotted for new gravel riders and Domane bikes will be assigned to intermediate level riders. This will give you the chance to try out a legitimate gravel bike and enjoy roads that you have gone by many times but never had the chance to ride them, until now. Trek Stirling will provide guidance on the two rides, serve as leads and sweeps on each ride, as well as offer SAG support as necessary. Trek Stirling will also be providing refreshments pre and post ride. Reservations for the loaner gravel bikes must be made prior to the ride. Please call Trek Stirling 908-647-2010 for availability and sizes. They will also ascertain your preference regarding pedals for the ride. Mountain bikes, Fat Bikes and comfort bike owners are welcome to ride with their bikes as long as your tire size is 32mm or larger. Because this is a joint Trek Stirling/MAFW, the following signups are required and mandatory for participants to ride on June 24, 2023 Sign up on the MAFW ride sheet for ride 1342 or 1343. (Rides should be posted shortly). FYI Links to Ride with GPS files are also available on the Event Brite site below as well. Sign up on the attached Event Brite reservation on form for Trek Stirling gravel ride. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/garden-state-gravel-series-tickets-529693967917 Sign the Trek Stirling waiver. If there are any questions, please call or text Jeff Sperling 908-451-6122 and we will endeavor to answer your inquiries. Miscellaneous great deal that I found yesterday: Winter is coming and if you want to participate in the weekly club Zwift rides or are looking to benefit from some winter training. REI (a Ramble Sponsor) has launched an incredible deal – the Wahoo KICKR CORE for a mere $449. That’s basically half the price of the normal $899 for the KICKR CORE, so I figured I’d look at how it compares to the $499 Zwift Hub. But make no mistake about it – the KICKR CORE at $449 is a better deal/buy than the Zwift Hub at $499, no matter how you slice it. And – just to be clear before we get distracted, the KICKR CORE at $449 is simply an incredible deal all around – arguably one of the best smart trainer deals we’ve seen in years. If you want to jump on that deal, hit the REI link here, and then add it to your cart (you have to add it to your cart to see the deal). Read more about the deal here: Wahoo KICKR CORE Smart Trainer Price In Half: Incredible Deal at $449 | DC Rainmaker As always – Ride safely and make the clRead more

June 4th Special Event – Save the dateIt is early in the spring riding season, and we are pleased to announce a special event for all our MAFW members! For the first time in our club history on June 4th, 2023, in conjunction with our friends at Trek Stirling and Trek Summit, we will have 5 Freewheeler rides initiating from the Trek Stirling location, 395 Main Street in Stirling. On the MAFW roster, there are three Far Hills rides, # 214, 511, and 516 that literally go right by the Trek Stirling location. We will finalize the ride selection shortly. Instead of starting the rides in Far Hills, we will start the ride from Trek Stirling and cover the route, ending it back at Trek Stirling. We will need to tweak the rides as the upper portion of Somerville Road is still closed. We will have B, C+, C, D+ and D rides starting at 9 am. Based on turnout we can consolidate a ride or two, if need be. We also want to provide an important safety inspection on your bike through the auspices of Trek. Before the rides commence, all those members that sign up for the ride will receive a free, no obligation, multi-point inspection of their bike. Trek mechanics will be on duty and will give each member a detailed scorecard assessment of their bike. The areas that will be inspected include tires, frame, fork, suspension, drivetrain, rider contact points, wheel systems, and braking systems. As a gesture of goodwill, for all those members that sign up for the ride and their bike inspection, Trek will issue a $20.00 gift card that can be used for anything in the store, sales or service. It is important to reiterate that members are not obligated to have their bikes serviced at Trek. You are free to take your bike to any bike service if you deem it appropriate. Trek will have refreshments, bananas, coffee, donuts, water, bagels (from O’Bagel) and cream cheese before the ride as well as after the ride. Bathroom facilities will be available inside the store before the ride starts. Please arrive at the Trek Store at 8 am so there will be adequate time to complete the inspections prior to the start of the rides. There will be adequate parking in the Trek parking area. I want to take the time to thank Jeff Sperling and others that have been working diligently behind the scenes to get this set up. Hope to see you all there on June 4th. The tradition continues, the club will provide fried chicken, but everyone is expected to bring a dish based on their last name to supplement the chicken. Girls in Gear Gabrielle Rossi has invited us to observe one or both of their Girls on Gear clinics on May 14th (10AM) for their 8-week program or June 4th (12PM) for the learn to ride clinic. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate the social impact of our club and if we can potentially get a couple of the biker chicks in their gear to attend one of the two sessions as well would be awesome. Both sessions are at Lewis Morris Park in the Sunrise Lake Parking Lot. If you do not make one or both sessions, they will most likely have a table at the Ramble starting point so please stop by and introduce yourselves.
