Hi Skiwheelers. Just found out about another ski club’s lodge available to non members. But one of their members must be there during that time as well. It’s the Ramapo Mountain Ski Club. They have a lodge that they say is a short walk to the lifts at Mad River Glen. https://www.ramaposkiclub.org/copy-of-the-lodge

I will be skiing next week. Monday, February 1 at Windham, Tuesday at Hunter, and Wednesday at Belleayre. If anyone would like to meet up, contact me. I can give you some skiing tips if you’d like since I have been a ski instructor for years past.

Planning to get up to ski Killington next week for 2-3 days. Just about all trails are now open. My club has a ski house about 15 minutes from the slopes. Cost would be $75 per night for one room which can sleep up to 4 people. (Must be people you live with due to covid restrictions.) Separate bathroom for each room but the kitchen is shared.…[Read more]

Thank you. I did phone them later and was told that they expect to resume to be open on Sunday when the pandemic restrictions are over.

I lead the 1217 tour today – from the Denville Savage start. The food stop, Lakeside Bagels, is now closed on Sunday. Perhaps this is temporary, didn’t see any sign of that.

Great. The guide gives some good information. Thanks for putting the comments on the front page. Stay safe in this coming snow. I’ll be frolicking in my nearby woods on my cross country skiis.

I don’t think the meet up function will be very useful for members because to see postings a member must first go to the meetup area. Alternatively, the skiing group that I found is more beneficial because it puts the topic on the home page.

I added a feed for groups on the front page underneath the forums listing. You can click on the Group Name to go to the groups page or you can directly add a comment while still on the front page.

In addition (by default) you will receive an email every time someone posts a message to any group you have joined. For more information on Groups check out the Groups Quick Start Guide: https://mafw.org/groups-quick-start-guide/

I am going to ski at Hunter mountain with a friend on this Friday, December 18. As you may know, there is a forecast of snow ahead. On Wednesday, 10 to 14 inches of snow is expected. On Thursday an additional 2 to 4 inches. If you’d like to meet up there, let me know. We can ski some runs and maybe meet at a socially distant restaurant later. I…[Read more]

Another suggestion in regard to the same weekend that I organize. I first start to list the ride early in the year, perhaps January. But the information changes as I book the restaurants that we will be using and the routes that will be available. Currently I do not know of a way to update my ride listing. Can that be changed?

I have run a trip to the Penn Dutch area, usually the last weekend in June for 5 years now, with other bicycle clubs. Only this past year did I list it with this club. Though the number of participants was 10, less than half of last year because of covid concerns. However, no one from MAFW signed up. I believe this is because very few know to…[Read more]

I have signed up for the first time to ride the Spellbound Century on July 25, 2020. I’d like to know if anyone has any comments about the 100 mile route such as being hilly or mostly flat, bad pavement, etc.
And I would like to know what to expect at the event. Is it similar to most mass ride events or is there something different about this ride? Thanks

That study and other ones are currently being circulated. I can see an issue if one athlete follows in the slipstream of the one in front. Of course any side wind would quickly dissipate expelled air from anyone and carry it away from anyone else. And of course, if one is wearing a face mask then it would be the safest method.

I’ve been taking some bike rides and some runs. Working in the house and backyard. Sending correspondence about my Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) And looking for routes to go on with friends when we ride in groups again.
