Post Inspection Rides are posted

All:

Our website has posted a C, D+ and D rides for signups after the Trek inspection on Saturday. We listened to your suggestions , created a new ride  and shortened an existing ride. We may be able offer a C+ ride and a second C ride if more ride leaders volunteer to lead. Please sign up as soon as you can so we have an accurate head count for Trek as I requested bagels and coffee from Trek.

We have scheduled the rides to start at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 and 11:15 depending on the level you sign up at. We are suggesting you arrive for your inspection about 30-45 minutes before your ride start time. If you cannot make the ride, you can still come in on Saturday for your free inspection. Any other questions, please let me know.

D+Ride 1338  Again, ride was shortened and already claimed

D Ride 1526 A new  flatter ride of 15 miles out of Trek Stirling already claimed

The aforementioned 2 rides remaining looking for a ride leader (C+ and C) are listed on the schedule as proposed rides. Please sign up for them today so our members can sign up as well . Inspection Ride, Saturday,March 14, 2026 : Trek Stirling

Hi All:

After a cold, snowy winter, we are finally beginning to see some warmer weather. Today, 31 MAFWers came out and rode out of Pluckemin. Hopefully, the weather will continue to improve for us. To get you and your bike ready to ride this spring , we are pleased to  partner again with Trek Stirling and offer their free no obligation bike inspection program on Saturday March 14, 2026 starting at 9:00 am. Safety is our number one priority and we urge to have your bike inspected.  If any service is suggested, Trek has established special pricing for MAFW members and they have reduced their Level 2 Service pricing from $189 to $139 for any member bringing their bike in for inspection next Saturday. Trek will be providing coffee and bagels during the pre ride inspection.

Our previous post inspection rides from Trek Stirling were considered too long by many of our members .  We are in the process of creating shorter rides about 30 miles long from the Trek Stirling location.   Those rides will be posted within the next few days . Please sign up for those rides so we can provide an accurate head count to Trek. We suggest you arrive 30 minutes before your ride starts for your bike inspection.  Parking will be in the Trek parking lot, the daycare next door, as well as Main Street in Stirling.  The rain date will be the following Saturday 3/21/26 at the same time starting at 9 am.  If you have any questions, please let me know .

Stay safe,
Jeff

GASTON RD IN MORRIS TWN

I was told that there is a bridge out on Gaston Rd in Morris Twn and construction may last 3 months.  This road closure affects at least 4 rides from Central Park of Morris County.   I will be scoping out this closure and let you know of an appropriate detour.

MULTIDAY ADVENTURES

Just want to bring to your attention some multiday rides on our calendar.

  1. Hersey Spring Cycling Weekend 5/15-5/17.  This ride is posted on the MAFW ride schedule and on the MAFW calendar. This ride is being run by biketoursbylinda who also ran the Gettysburg weekend last fall.  A group of us from MAFW had a great time at the Gettysburg weekend and I expect we will also have a great time at Hersey.  I was assured that they will have the “blender bike”.  After registering on the Hersey website please sign up on the MAFW ride schedule.  I am the MAFW ride coordinator for this event so if you have any questions please contact me.
  2. BON TON ROULET 7/21-7-25. This ride is posted on the MAFW ride schedule and on the MAFW calendar.  We had a big group from MAFW attend last year’s BON TON.  After registering on the BON TON website please sign up on the MAFW ride schedule.  I am the MAFW ride coordinator for this event so if you have any questions please contact me.
  3. MOUNTAINS TO COAST NC 10/3-10/10. Several of us did this ride in 2024 and we had a great and rewarding experience. This is a ~450-mile ride across North Carolina from Mount Airy to Hatteras Island with ~1000 riders from across the country. It is well supported but you will be doing ~60 miles a day with no rest days.  I hope to do this ride this year so if you want to join me, please call me at 732-259-8990.  Check out the website and video.

Note there are other rides posted on the calendar and if you want to be the ride coordinator for that event please contact me.  If there is an event you want posted, please contact me.

Thanks
Manny

Club Updates

Greetings, friends.

Over the past few months, the Board of Directors has been reviewing the club’s financial trends.  It was noted that while the club’s current financial picture is good, the club has been operating on a deficit for the last few years.  As a result, the Board of Directors voted to increase dues to $40 per year for a 1 year individual membership, $75 for a 2 year membership, and  $110 for a 3 year membership.  The Dual Adult membership has been discontinued.  This change will take effect 30 days from today in keeping with the club bylaws. In addition, the Board voted to change the Ride Leader award such that Ride Leaders who lead a minimum of 15 rides will receive a $50 gift card,  There will no longer be an option of getting a Ride Leader jersey.

None of us are excited about these changes.  However, dues have not increased for many years while the cost of everything has increased.  The cost of ride leader jerseys now exceeds $100. In addition, the club’s portion of the proceeds from the Revolutionary Ramble has been reduced.  And it is worth mentioning that the Ramble has been struggling to attract an adequate number of volunteers so the future of the Ramble is uncertain.  The increase in dues and change in ride leader awards is intended to help ensure the club remains fiscally strong and that the club can continue to provide the types of social events that membership values.  Please be assured that the Board of Directors will continue to look for ways to ensure a fiscally strong status while offering good value for our members.

I am always available to discuss any concerns and suggestions.

Have fun; stay safe.

Best regards,

Michael
