09/05Fri 10:00amC/C+/42/1806Duke Island ParkJeff Sperling833 - Chathams Choice43

Here’s a  scenic ride we haven’t seen on the schedule in at least a year. I’ve led this ride in the past and it’s a good one. We will travel mostly familiar roads but in a different direction.  Our stop will be at the Ringoes Country Store. Shortly before our stop, bathrooms will be at the Marion Clausen Park, a right turn off of Rt.179.  Weather looks good, come join me on Friday.

With luck you will see a Vicuna Ranch otherwise lots of cattle, rolling hills and smells to clear your sinuses.

CAUTION: Short (200 yards) patch of unpaved road - on Plennart (mile 9.1)
CAUTION: uncontrolled crossing of Rt 202 (mile 36.6)
Food stops: Ringoes (Ringoes Country Deli - mile 20)

Another relaxed Sunday ride especially suited for new cyclists, those retuning to cycling after an absence, or those who simply want a relaxed short ride on a scenic route.  No one rides alone and the pace will be adjusted as needed so everyone stays together.

A short scenic ride to Duke Island Park that travels the scenic Peter's Brook/Raritan River Greenway, a short stretch on Old York and neighboring roads, and then travels through paved trails in Duke Island Park before heading back to the start point.  A maximum of 5 or 6 riders and a casual or D pace on the paved trails is recommended due to the width of the paved trails and pedestrian traffic on the paths in Duke Island Park.  NOTE: the greenway may not be passable after a heavy rain or extended period of rain.  On those occasions, there should be a sign posted at the greenway entrance.
