This tour is essentially the reverse of our popular #848, with a loop through Cedar Lake & Cooks Pond early on.  It tackles Old Beach Glen early on and is a less steep  challenge.  It also reverses the awkward downhill of the pothole filled portion of Kinnelon Ave & makes it a safer route. It also schedules a stop at Lakeside Bagels, and thus eliminates the risky crossing of Green Pond Road.

Should be a little cooler on Thursday for this ride through Hunterdon, Morris, and Somerset Counties. A good mix of shade, climbing, descents and scenery.  There will be no sweep, but we will regroup as necessary to keep the group together at the top of Mt Grove, Frog Hollow and at the Black River General Store. Potential rest break in Califon with port-a-john on Bank St. Strong C+ riders welcome.

Enjoy three counties while riding through Lebanon, Califon, Hacklebarney and Pottersville. This ride rewards the climber with a beautiful view from atop Mt. Grove on the way into Califon. Tour by Muffin Williams (2016).

For special July social ride at ~40.9 mile make a left off School Rd before RT22 and ride or walk the short distance to Polar Cub for ice cream.  Caution since you are going against RT22 traffic. Ice cream paid by MAFW. After Polar Cub alternate return is make a right at School Rd, left at Old Hwy 28, cross RT22 at the light and continue Main St to Pickell Park.

Who was John Ringoes?  He owned Ringo's Taverin where many important Revolutionary War meetings were held and he was burried a few blocks from the Carousel rest stop on 12 Boss Rd in Ringoes. This tour travels new and old roads to Ringoes and returns via Everitts and Barley Sheaf Roads, skirting Flemington. NOTE: Similar to tour #906, but starts from Pluckemin.

I’ve never done this one, and I’m told it’s beautiful. Join me for an exploration of new roads under what is forecast to be great weather.

Cherry Valley Rd is one of the nicest roads you will find in the northeast. There are several scenic overlooks along the Delaware just before the Gap where you may want to stop and take a picture. No bathrooms at the start point but there is a Quick Check about a mile before you get to Belvedere on 46.  If you have not been to this start point, it is easiest to turn left before you get to the A&P (Closed but you can see the sign at the top of the hill as you approach).  We normally park in the northeast corner of the parking lot. Shorter version of the Allamuchy Andover loop #981, an ultra scenic ride in the Great Meadows glacial basin, our beloved Allamuchy valley. Count more sheep, goats and cows than cars.Look for snow geese in season. Watch the corn grow. The municipal building has indoor bathrooms and water available. Parking is limited on court days (Tuesdays 9-2), so avoid scheduling on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Court schedules however subject to change. When scouting or riding from there, check what's current.

This tour is essentially the reverse of our popular #848, with a loop through Cedar Lake & Cooks Pond early on.  It tackles Old Beach Glen early on and is a less steep  challenge.  It also reverses the awkward downhill of the pothole filled portion of Kinnelon Ave & makes it a safer route. It also schedules a stop at Lakeside Bagels, and thus eliminates the risky crossing of Green Pond Road.

Cherry Valley Rd is one of the nicest roads you will find in the northeast. There are several scenic overlooks along the Delaware just before the Gap where you may want to stop and take a picture. No bathrooms at the start point but there is a Quick Check about a mile before you get to Belvedere on 46.  If you have not been to this start point, it is easiest to turn left before you get to the A&P (Closed but you can see the sign at the top of the hill as you approach).  We normally park in the northeast corner of the parking lot. Enjoy three counties while riding through Lebanon, Califon, Hacklebarney and Pottersville. This ride rewards the climber with a beautiful view from atop Mt. Grove on the way into Califon. Tour by Muffin Williams (2016).

For special July social ride at ~40.9 mile make a left off School Rd before RT22 and ride or walk the short distance to Polar Cub for ice cream.  Caution since you are going against RT22 traffic. Ice cream paid by MAFW. After Polar Cub alternate return is make a right at School Rd, left at Old Hwy 28, cross RT22 at the light and continue Main St to Pickell Park.
