  1. Happy birthday to Andy! I'm adding this ride to make room for Andy's 10:30 group. We'll go a bit faster and have more time to celebrate before Andy arrives back! 🤣

Per Andy's instructions, please download the modified route from https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38138647

Leaving Summer Road Park, you will ride through historic Hunterdon County. The following prominent families have roads named after them: Voorhees, Case, Lambert, Rittenhouse, Dilts,  Buchanan and Woolverton. Cross the Delaware at Stockton to Dillys Corner (PA), left onto Rte 32 S and return via New Hope to Lambertville. Rest stop at the Lambertville Trading Company or at others coffee houses available. Then follow a comfortable route back to the start. Tour by Tony Marchand and Pat Kipp (2017).

Food stops:
4: Valerie Cole(B), Dennis Sinauskas(B), Max Smithridden

This is my Birthday ride in kilometers, not miles (with 1.5 extra for good luck). Alexauken Road is closed, but Les Garber showed me how to get around it, and I have modified the route accordingly.  See  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38138647     While I was modifying the route, I decided to also modify it to skip PA.  Very, very, very, very short break if needed, but there will be cake at the finish.

Friday looks like a good weather day. One of the flatter rides out of Mine Brook. All riders welcome but will sweep bottom of C pace. I think Highland Market is still closed. Maria’s Cafe might be an option for a stop. Am open to suggestions though.

Come on up to the Flateau for a moving meditation. The climb on Barton Hollow is gentle. Experience the serenity of Kingwood Township. The return trip is a bit more challenging on familiar back country roads.

Ride cancelled due to poor road conditions

I scheduled this ride a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. Out of the 45 rides listed for Colonial Park, this is one of the few that does NOT travel on Canal Road going out or coming back. You will travel some familiar roads, but in the opposite direction. Additionally, there are some new beautiful roads we ride through in Princeton. We will have an amazing short climb on Province Line  Road, but even then we are going in the opposite direction. Our stop will be at the Bagel Barn, around mile 30. The current forecast for Saturday calls for very mild temperatures.  Come join me on Saturday I

Uses seldom travelled Sunnymeade road then onto Willow rd. via Amwell rd. A new and exciting discovery. The ride skirts thru western Princeton. Food stop at Bagel Barn in Rocky Hill. Tour by Chaim Schreiber (2017). CLIMBS:

  • Should be very mild weather for December - hopefully we'll get a bit of sun as well. This will be a true B pace ride through the Sourlands. Expect to average around 16 mph and I will not sweep. We will make a stop at Brick Farm Market and may re-group from time to time to keep the group together.

Here’s a seldom ridden short ride on a brisk morning with just enough elevation to work off last night’s dinner. There will be a couple of new roads for most of you early in the ride, but the rest of the route will be familiar. With the ride under 29 miles, I haven’t scheduled an official stop, but we can refresh wherever.  There are some bathroom stops along the way, Raptor Trust, around mile 10, Environmental Center mile 12, and we could divert to Loantaka mile 20 if needed. Come join me on Sunday.

This is a very pleasant and scenic ride. Still plenty of country roads here, but expect to encounter some traffic at beginning and end of ride.

When you look at the roster of rides from Pluckemin, you would be hard pressed to find a ride that hasn’t been scheduled many times over the course of a year. This ride, however, hasn’t been selected in at least a year. All of the roads are familiar, but not in this sequence, and the only climb is on Hill and Dale.  I like the fact that we go out and come back via Country Club Road.  I also like that we bypass most of Burnt Mills on the way back, and  instead, take Rattlesnake Road all the way until it ends. Our stop will be at The White House General Store at mile 23. Come join me on Monday.

Based on Along More Mill Rivers (tour 1120) Mostly rural roads including Halls Mill, Taylors Mill, and Hill and Dale with a food stop at the Oldwick General Store at 17.3 or Whitehouse General Store at mile 23.5. We have a minor warming trend this week and Wednesday should be as good as it gets. This is a nice route with a stop in Hopewell if we need it.

A soothing ride through the Sourland to Hopewell with a food stop at the Boro Bean. Somewhat of a "sombrero" ride - a few bumps (Readington, Hillcrest, Locust, Plennert) in first 15 miles followed by big climb up Runyon Mill Rd. and then descent into Hopewell on Hopewell Wertsville Rd. The climb is before the rest stop in Hopewell and the second half of the ride is pretty flat. Tour by Chaim Schreiber.
CAUTION: Short stretch of gravel on Plennert Rd (mile 9.4) CLIMBS: Runyon Mill Rd - 250' in 1.2 miles @ mile 16.
Food stops: Hopewell (mile 25) - Boro Bean, Brick Farm

Starting temp at 10am is around 40.  Not too bad.

On December 5th I did this ride in reverse (1082 Ellen's Ride).  It was 'S wonderful! 'S marvelous!  Even though this is the exact same ride as 1082 (but in reverse), RWGPS says it has 100 feet more of elevation. I do not think that is possible.  I will happily sweep anyone who can maintain a 16 mph average.  (I will even sweep for someone who can only average 15.5.)  We will  regroup when we get to the top of the flateau (at 6.4 miles). Very, very, very very short break if needed for bathroom or beverages at Maria’s.

The only climb on this tour is Cherryville Hollow which takes you up to the plateau where you remain until coming downhill on White Bridge Rd. Not only is the plateau flat, but it has very quiet roads. Tour by Muffin Williams (2016).

CLIMBS: Cherryville Hollow Rd - 500' in 3 miles @ mile 3.5.
Food stops:
8: Bill Kolano, Michael Shapanka(TB), Ed Steinman(NA), Tom Sterk, Andrew Diorio, John Parsekian, Glenn Sutton(A)ridden

Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house, all cyclists were stirring to see if there would be a ride. So put down the eggnog, cookies and stuff and join me on Sunday, don't let it slide. Santa guarantees good weather.

Turns out it is possible to get to Hopewell without going over the Sourlands, making this route very flat - almost D terrain. A pleasant ride to Hopewell on familiar roads through Somerset and Mercer counties. Food at the Brick Farm or Boro Bean which never disappoint. No guns or cannoli's. Tour by Les Garber (2016). Food stops on this ride: Hopewell (mile 20) Port-a-johns:
mile 11.9 and 29.3 - Montgomery Arboretum Parking lot (intersection of Harlingen and Mill Pond Rd) mile 12.6 - Montgomery Veteran's Park (Harlingen Rd just before it becomes Devon Rd) mile 28.8 - Mill Pond Soccer Complex (on Mill Pond Rd between Dead Tree Run Rd and Harlingen Rd)

A pleasant ride through the back roads of Sussex County and Warren County traveling many familiar roads in different directions from other rides. Shady lanes and along the sides of many farms.

CAUTION: This tour returns to Limecrest via Rt 206 instead of our normal Old Creamery route. Rt 206 has a good shoulder, but if you are not comfortable riding next to high speed traffic you should NOT do this tour.

This ride is an often ridden club favorite. It has beautiful roads, a central starting location, good distance, and only 31 feet per mile of climbing. Always a fun ride! I would be happy to sweep for anyone who can maintain a 16 mph pace.  Very, very, very, very short break if needed, but I will have a limited supply of  Walkers Shortbread cookies at the finish. (The supply depends on how many I eat today.)

A ride thru the beautiful farmlands of Somerset County. Ride by Lorin Press. NOTE: Similar to tour #897, but starting from Pluckemin/Bed-1 instead of RVCC. CAUTION: Uncontrolled crossing of high-speed, 4 lane Rt 22 at mile 7.4. Choose tour 1015 to cross Rt 22 at light. At mile 32.8 please cross 202 at pedestrian crosswalk at light instead of using car turn lane.
