While we have some short climbs up Liberty Corner Road , Pond Hill Road, and Mt. Bethel Road, we also have some long descents on Somerville Road, and the same Liberty Corner Road. And for those of you who dislike climbing all of Lake Road in Basking Ridge, this ride calls for a turn on Culberson. Because of the distance, there is no scheduled official stop, but we will stop for hydration and snacks as needed. Due to the ongoing construction on Liberty Corner Road, we will have one detour in the end that most of you already know about. At the bottom of Somerville Road, stay straight onto Cantebury Way. At the next corner, make a left on Mine Brook Road. Then Make a left on Douglas Road and proceed one mile. Make a right on Liberty Corner Road and you are back on the route. Weather will be warm and muggy. The only route modification is on the return after coming down Somerville Road. From Jeff: The ongoing construction on Liberty Corner Road will lead us to the usual detour. At the bottom of Somerville Road, stay straight onto Canterbury Way. At the next corner, make a left on Mine Brook. Then make a left on Douglas Road, proceed one mile, right on Liberty Corner Road and you are back on the route. Weather will be seasonally cooler. I will check if Outdoor Seating is available at the Sterling Diner. If so, that will be our stop. If not, then O'Bagel will be the stop which is across from ShopRite on the left side of the road. Look for Sterling Liquors.
