8:30amC/B/34/1717RVA - Johanson Memorial FieldsPete Aldrich1546 - RVA Fields to Cafe Montville-Shorter51

Ride leaves from RVA Fields park in Boonton Township. Access from Powerville Road. Our food stop is about two miles from the end at Cafe Club Montviile at the intersection of Boonton Avenue and Rockaway Valley Road. Great coffee and pastries.

This is a slightly shorter version of route #1513 that cuts out the Old Beach Glen Road segment. The ride starts at the RVA Fields in Boonton Township, loops through Cedar Lake, Mountain Lakes and Boonton, winds around Dixon’s Pond, climbs Kinnelon Road and goes through Fayson Lakes. The rest stop is at the new Cafe Montville on Boonton Ave (across from Marotta Controls).

8:45amB/B/46/2880Duke Island ParkJason Cope1516 - Over Sourland We Go63

This will be a slower B pace. A beautiful ride through the Sourlands, into Hopewell and back. The climb up Long Hill Rd comes early so we get it out of the way fast. Stops at Michaels Deli or Sourland Cycles in Hopewell - we'll discuss at the start.

SMALL DETOUR: At mile 4.5, instead of turning left onto Riverside Dr, we will continue STRAIGHT on River Rd to the end, turn LEFT and continue on River Rd, then RIGHT over the bridge onto Elm St which puts us back on course.

No signups by 9pm the night before cancels.

Climb Long Hill Rd. over Sourland Mtn. to Hopewell then back home through East Amwell, Three Bridges and Readington. Stops: Michaels Deli in Hopewell (mile 19.4) - food and water; Sourland Cycles in Hopewell (mile 19.5) - water; Three Bridges Cafe in Three Bridges (mile 35.3) - water.

First time for this tour from the shop that stores our club gear for free and treats me like family.  Same tour as 577 but starts at Pop's bike shop and adds a few miles.  Hopefully weather will cooperate.  Free parking in Somerville on Sundays in addition to parking behind Pop's bike shop by turning on to Warren Street from Main Street.  Note: club cue sheet is correct; Ride with GPS cue sheet is missing the last few turns.

My ride guidelines:

  1. I will sweep as per the Ride Leader manual.
  2. I expect at least 1 person to ride with me, especially since I have no way of knowing in advance if I’ll have a defibrillator event.  (Rare, but still possible.)
  3. I prefer that all who sign up commit to riding within the club’s average speed for the posted pace and prefer you not sign up if you plan to exceed the maximum average speed for the posted pace. Anyone who chooses to ride faster than the maximum average speed for the posted pace will be considered to be on your own unless you stop to regroup periodically.
  4. Please be able to maintain the minimum average speed for the posted pace, however, no one will be dropped.
  5. No one rides alone.
  6. Keep an eye on your fellow riders: bikes break, accidents happen, medical emergencies happen.
  7. Please do not sign up for this ride if you are unwilling to follow these guidelines.

Similar to tour 577 but starting from Pop's Bike store
