10/21Tue 10:30amC+/B/46/2940Mine Brook ParkJohn Parsekian1086 - Can You Say UBE64

A slightly later start to let the temps warm up. After that it should be comfortable with low wind and sun.

If the bridge is impassable near Allens Corner, we will detour around it.

In Milford I suggest we skip the walk across the bridge and go to the bagel shop on the NJ side.

If you like riding a bike and enjoy drinking coffee consider this tour that goes through one of the most scenic areas consisting of low traffic and rolling hills. We cross the into Pennsylvania to Upper Black Eddy for our rest stop at the Homestead General Store, the oldest continually operating general store on the Delaware Canal along with Homestead Coffee Roasters. Optional stop at Milford Bakery for those not wanting to walk across the bridge. Ride finishes as all rides should, with a nice long downhill into the parking lot.

10/21Tue 10:30amD+/C+/20/832Loantaka-South St., Morris Twp.Barry Seip1434 - BARSAW42

A nice morning ride to get the body moving.

Lots of roads on this ride have been recently paved.

A few climbs but nothing difficult.

Weather Forecast: Sunny / mid 60s / light wind

May be the last chance to wear bike shorts this year.

Come out and join me for a Fun ride.

A nice flat ride with a few easy climbs.   The ride leaves via South St and then onto Southgate.   There's a nice downhill on Lee's Hill and back up via Bailey's Mill and Youngs Rd.    The route heads back to Southern Blvd in Chatham and returns to Loantaka via Woodland Ave.
This is a great "recovery" ride or for those who don't want steep climbs.

10/22Wed 10:00amD+/B/52/2978Newfoundland Park and RideJay Marowitz1267 - Newfoundland Greenwood Lake ride (easier)57

Fall colors are peaking and this is one of the most scenic rides we have.

I selected the D+ pace so you don't have to worry about your speed as you take in all the scenery. Faster riders are welcome. We'll pick up lunch at Cumberland Farms and, about .3 mile down the road, we'll eat under a lakeside gazebo with a great view.

If you have never done this ride, don't miss it.

Beginning in West Milford, this ride goes north along Clinton reservoir and Upper Greenwood Lake to Warwick and Monroe NY (near Walton Lake), returning by way of the entire low-traffic East shore of Greenwood Lake and Sterling Forest to West Milford. With beautiful views of lakes and farms, this ride is challenging yet highly rewarding. Thanks to BTCNJ for the basic route for this ride provided in 2008. This tour is based on tour 656 but is a little shorter and has less elevation gain near the end when more elevation is just not what you're looking for.

Food stops:  Cumberland Farms  in Greenwood Lake, NY at mile 33.1. Purchase food here and take it to the gazebo on Greenwood lake on Waterstone Rd at mile 33.4 for a great lunch view. There is a Dairy Queen about mile 43 on Marshall Hill Rd right after exiting the shoreline hills of Greenwood Lake.. just when the suggestion of ice cream sounds like a really good idea.

Restrooms: None at the start point, but there are several fast food establishments on rt. 23 West on the way to the start. Also at mile 10.6, we always stop at a ball field with a port-a-john. Cumberland Farms food stop has a rest room.
