06/15Sun 8:00amS/NA/0/0Special EventRobert Kojko1478 - 2025 Farm to Fork Fitness-Hudson Valley-Gran Fondo0

I did this two years ago and had a great time riding the quiet rural roads of the Hudson Valley. There are four tours to choose from: 12, 25, 45, or 63 miles.

Think of it as The Revolutionary Ramble (although smaller) and with the rest stops stocked with locally-made treats like yogurt, ice cream, cider, and honey. Enjoy a post-ride barbecue back at the starting point.

Check the attached website for information on this event and to register.  Sign up on the MAFW schedule after you register so Robert knows who is attending.

06/15Sun 10:10amD+/D/43/898Village Park, Cranbury, NJRoy Fischman1237 - Village Park to Monmouth Battlefield21

I am changing this ride to some extent. The start will be at the Princeton Junction train station because we will be meeting whoever comes from the 5BBC bicycle club and they will probably all take the train from Penn Station. This is the write up from the other club's website. And the route will be the one below. The time that we will start will be 10 am because the train arrives, 9:27 am. I will be leading this ride from the front. This is a diagram of the parking lot at Princeton Junction train station https://www.njtransit.com/station/princeton-junction-station. I usually park on the side of the tracks at lot 7 or 8.

"Bicycle from the Princeton Junction train station through farmlands and stop for some history at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park. This battle was a decisive battle of the Revolutionary War. You can walk the battlefields and may cover the same ground as George Washington, Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton and other Continental Army figures. Or you may walk where the British, such as Lord Stirling, Cornwalis or Clinton were fighting. The pace will be a moderate pace, 43.8 miles. We will be stopping after the battlefield at Gus's Diner, mile 25.2 And time and weather permitting we can stop in the historic town of Cranbury, established 1697 for some ice cream at Gil and Berts' ice cream. The route is here https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39850208

You can drive to the start or if you wish, take the train from Penn Station, leaving at 8:14 am that arrives at Princeton Junction at 9:27 am. I will be meeting everyone at the Princeton Junction train station. David will meet everyone at the starting train station, Penn Station."

This ride starts in a quiet park in the historic town of Cranbury, N.J.  There is a meal/bathroom stop at the 7-Eleven at mile 16.7. After this stop there is another opportunity to stop at mile 26.3, the Battleground Deli with it's outside picnic tables.

We reach the Monmouth Battlefield Park at mile 27.4. The bicycle turn to the Battleground follows part of the path of the History Hike. The route goes on dirt and grass past an apple orchard, a corn field and a pumpkin patch until reaching the museum at mile 28.2  On this site was one of the decisive battles of the Revolutionary War- General Washington's forces fought against the army of the British, General Sir Henry Clinton, commanding. After our return to Cranbury, some may want to try the ice cream at "Gil & Berts", a block from the park. To minimize roads with truck traffic, it is advisable to take this route on a weekend. Also, the museum at the Battleground is currently closed due to the corona virus, though the website shows operating hours, it is for the site, not the museum
